Philippines Gaming Industry Falls 20% in Second Quarter
The gaming industry in the Philippines reports gross revenue of ₱88.13 billion in the second quarter of 2026, a 20% drop from the previous year, driven by inflation and geopolitical crisis.

The gaming industry in the Philippines experienced a 20.33% decline in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the second quarter of 2026, reaching ₱88.13 billion, down from ₱110.63 billion in the same period last year. According to Alejandro H. Tengco, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), this decrease was primarily due to lower revenues in the electronic gaming sector, alongside other factors such as renewed tensions in the Middle East.
"The decline was driven by several factors, including the impact of inflation and the geopolitical crisis in the Middle East, which affected consumer spending, particularly in discretionary activities," Tengco commented.
Major Contributors to Revenue
Licensed casinos were the largest revenue source for the sector during the period, generating ₱45.37 billion, which represents 51.49% of the total GGR. On the other hand, the electronic gaming sector, which includes E-Games, E-Bingo, bingo, and poker, contributed ₱39.85 billion, equivalent to 45.21% of the total sector.
PAGCOR Casinos
Casinos operated by PAGCOR generated ₱2.90 billion, representing 3.3% of the GGR for the second quarter.
Outlook for the Industry
Despite the current downturn, Tengco expressed optimism about the future recovery of the local gaming industry. He cited operators' efforts to enhance services, adopt technological innovations, and reinforce responsible gaming measures.
"PAGCOR remains committed to implementing measures that increase GGR and strengthen the sector's performance. We will continue working with our partners to ensure this industry contributes significantly to national development," Tengco stated.
Semi-Annual Performance
Last month, Tengco reported that PAGCOR's total revenue decreased by 26.64% in the first half of 2026.
