Swedish Household Consumption Grows 1.6% in June 2026

Household consumption in Sweden increased 1.6% in June 2026 compared to May, according to Statistics Sweden. Compared to June 2025, the rise was 4.3%. Every category assessed showed positive trends.

Monthly and Annual Growth

Statistics Sweden's report highlights a steady consumption increase both month-over-month and year-over-year. The largest monthly increase was in personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services, rising by 5.9%. On a yearly basis, information and communication peaked with a growth of 12.8%.

Weekly Consumption Indicators

Weekly indicators reveal a 1.7% growth from weeks 24-27 compared to weeks 20-23. This growth was broad-based across all sectors, with restaurants and lodging services leading at a 4.9% increase.

Detailed Sector Growth

Here's a closer look at sector-specific developments:

  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Yearly growth of 7.3%, monthly growth of 0.5%.
  • Clothing and footwear: Annual rise of 8.9%, 3.5% on a monthly basis.
  • Transport: Increased by 5% year-over-year, and 5.4% month-over-month.
  • Information and communication: Experienced the most significant annual rise at 12.8%.
  • Recreation, culture, and sports: Saw a 6.9% annual growth, improving 4.9% monthly.

These trends align with the broader economic indicators that suggest a healthy uptick in consumer spending.

Adjustments and Revisions

The reported figures are fixed price-calculated, calendar-adjusted, and seasonally adjusted. Revisions occur monthly based on new information, affecting up to four months of previous data.

Future Publications

The next set of consumption data from Statistics Sweden will be released on September 16, 2026, covering data up to week 36.

Impact on Vendors

For iGaming operators and platform providers, the increase in consumer spending might present opportunities to expand consumer engagement. Monitoring trends in sectors such as leisure and hospitality could guide strategic decisions in marketing and product development.

Key API Changes

As part of ongoing updates, Statistics Sweden replaced PxWebApi v1 with PxWebApi v2 in autumn 2025. The older version will remain operational until the end of 2026 but will be phased out thereafter. Vendors using these APIs will need to transition to maintain data access.
