The World Cup Impacts Las Vegas Sands Revenues in Macau and Singapore
Las Vegas Sands reported net revenues of $3.15 billion in the second quarter of 2026, affected by customer spending during the World Cup and low retention rates in Macau.

Las Vegas Sands experienced a decrease in its revenues for the second quarter of 2026 due to the impact of the World Cup and low VIP retention in Macau. Net revenues amounted to $3.15 billion, compared to $3.18 billion in the same quarter of the previous year. Operating income fell to $618 million from $783 million the previous year.
Impact of the World Cup on Macau and Singapore
Patrick Dumont, President and CEO, expressed concern about the decrease in high-value customer visits to their properties in Macau and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore during the World Cup. June was particularly notable for this trend, although the resilience of Marina Bay Sands was highlighted with a 5% growth in mass gaming revenues compared to the second quarter of 2025.
Financial Performance at Marina Bay Sands
Marina Bay Sands generated an EBITDA of $689 million for the quarter. Dumont noted, "If we had maintained our expectations for rolling gaming, our EBITDA would have been $37 million lower, or $652 million." This resilience underscores the strength of the business in the long term.
Challenges and Advances in Macau
In Macau, EBITDA was $430 million, negatively affected by an exceptionally low 1.35% VIP retention rate. However, Dumont highlighted progress in service and customer experience, with growth in gaming volumes surpassing that of the overall Macau market. "Compared to the second quarter of 2025, we saw strong growth across all segments," he stated.
Future Prospects
Looking ahead, Las Vegas Sands is confident that its products, staff, and focus on exceptional service will drive the company’s growth. "We expect to deliver strong returns to our shareholders in the coming years," Dumont concluded.
The strategic focus on enhancing customer experience and expanding services remains key to competing in a challenging gaming and entertainment market.
