PokerStars to Launch on Betfair in UK Under New Strategy
Flutter Entertainment integrates PokerStars with Betfair, enhancing liquidity and player experience across UK and Ireland.

PokerStars will debut on Betfair in the UK from 13 August, as Flutter Entertainment aims to boost liquidity through a new operating model. This initiative, PokerStars on Betfair, allows Betfair customers access to PokerStars via a co-branded platform. Details for this transition will be shared soon.
Strategic Shift for Enhanced Liquidity
Flutter Entertainment intends to consolidate its platforms by integrating PokerStars with its other brands like Paddy Power and Sky Poker. This strategy will leverage PokerStars' established dotcom liquidity pool across the UK and Ireland. Flutter's spokesperson mentioned that this shift reflects a focus on strengthening liquidity while maintaining PokerStars’ integrity and security across its network.
Successful International Transitions
In recent years, Flutter has implemented similar integrations in North America and Italy. PokerStars migrated to Flutter’s FanDuel in several US markets, including New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and in Ontario, Canada. In Italy, Sisal and Snaitech transitioned to the PokerStars network, moving away from Playtech's iPoker.
Addressing Market Challenges
Once a dominant force in online poker, PokerStars faces stiff competition from rivals like GGPoker, which boasts significantly higher active player numbers. Mike Woodbridge, PokerStars’ CCO, expressed that regulatory fragmentation has impacted liquidity and player experience. The new model aims to address these challenges and rejuvenate PokerStars’ player base.
"PokerStars is the most iconic brand in global poker," said Mike Woodbridge. "The changes we’re making will enhance liquidity and the player pool."
Integration Insights
Betfair’s Managing Director, Kim Daly, emphasized that combining PokerStars with Betfair brings together innovation and player-focused offerings. This integration offers an all-encompassing solution, including poker, sports betting, and premium casino gaming on a single platform.
"By integrating PokerStars onto the Betfair platform, we’re uniting two category-transformers," stated Kim Daly.
The launch signifies an industry milestone, showcasing a blend of market-leading products to enhance the gaming experience for players in the UK and beyond.
