Key Takeaways

  • DigiPlus launched five Shake, Rattle & Roll-themed games on BingoPlus on 22 October.
  • The titles will roll out in phases to ArenaPlus and GameZone.
  • DigiPlus has secured rights to two additional IPs for game development in 2027, with at least nine games planned in Q1.
  • The company expects more than 30 localised games this year and flagged an aspiration of around 60 games in 2027.

DigiPlus Interactive Corp launched five new horror-themed games based on the Filipino film franchise "Shake, Rattle & Roll" on Thursday, 22 October. The titles — “Manananggal”, “Reyna Ahas”, “Triple Terror”, “LRT Monster”, and “Aswang” — became available on the company’s BingoPlus platform and will be introduced in phases on ArenaPlus and GameZone.

Launch and platform rollout

The collaboration with Regal Entertainment Inc. places the five games first on BingoPlus on 22 October, with phased deployment across DigiPlus’ other platforms, ArenaPlus and GameZone. DigiPlus described the move as part of a strategy to expand its catalogue of proprietary and locally developed content using established Filipino entertainment IPs.

The Shake, Rattle & Roll franchise first released a feature in 1984 and is cited in the company release as one of the Philippines’ longest-running horror series, drawing on creatures from Philippine mythology and local folklore as source material.

Pipeline, targets and formats

Ray DeGuzman, head of localisation at DigiPlus, told reporters on Thursday that the company had secured rights to two additional intellectual properties for development in 2027. He said the first of those IPs was expected to generate at least nine games in the first quarter of next year, while titles based on the second IP would begin rolling out in the second quarter. He did not disclose further details.

DigiPlus expects to release more than 30 localised games this year, with the possibility of increasing that figure in 2027. “Maybe 60 games next year. We’ll see,” Mr DeGuzman said, stressing the number was an aspiration rather than a firm target. He also said slots would remain the focus of the company’s localised content strategy, accounting for about 80 percent of development effort, while the firm explored other formats including arcade-style games and a locally themed crash game expected to launch in December.

"The trick is taking the lore, the fiction or the history and then trying to come up with a game mechanic," Ray DeGuzman said, describing the development approach.

DigiPlus chairman Eusebio Tanco framed the partnership with Regal as a way to strengthen the company’s content portfolio and expand digital entertainment offerings. "By combining the film outfit’s strong creative legacy with DigiPlus’ digital capabilities and local market insight, we are creating new opportunities to bring established Filipino entertainment into the digital space," Mr Tanco stated in the release.

Regal Entertainment president Roselle Monteverde said the partnership opened a new chapter for the franchise by bringing its creative legacy into digital entertainment while preserving storytelling and cultural identity.

The five titled games are now live on BingoPlus and will appear on ArenaPlus and GameZone in subsequent phases.
