Hollywood Casino Aurora Doubles Its Revenue in July

The Hollywood Casino Aurora in Illinois has demonstrated rapid success following its transition to a land-based casino. In its first full month since opening on June 24, it generated $17.4 million in revenue and attracted nearly 156,000 visitors, positioning itself as the third highest revenue generator among the 17 casinos in the state in July.

Impressive Growth in the First Month

Jay Snowden, CEO and President of Penn Entertainment, emphasized that the business "has essentially doubled" its revenue in the first full month of operation. Growth indicators have been solid, with admissions, slot and table volumes, and non-gaming revenue nearly doubling compared to the previous year. Additionally, the hotel has begun attracting higher-value customers, generating 21% more average daily compared to the previous year.

"Since opening, 20% of our guests are new to Hollywood Aurora, and 25% are reactivated customers," Snowden added.

Future Expansions of Penn Entertainment

The next step for Penn Entertainment will be the relocation of Hollywood Council Bluffs, expected to open in 2028. This project will involve converting a casino license into a modern and efficient land-based establishment, which will seamlessly connect with the existing 444-room hotel. The estimated construction budget is between $180 million and $200 million, similar to the design of the new Hollywood Joliet in Illinois.

Snowden commented that "we believe the new property will significantly enhance our competitive position in the Greater Omaha market."
