Tony 'the Tiger' Lin, a prominent figure in the poker world, has achieved over $20 million in tournament earnings. Lin, who resides between Fujian and Las Vegas, is currently showcasing his skills at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) series in Incheon, South Korea. Known for his charismatic persona, Lin is captivating not just his tablemates but fans as well.

In the past year, Lin has claimed two APT Lion trophies, earning a combined $593,246 at the APT Jeju Classic. He's now aiming for the prestigious golden Main Event Lion trophy at APT Incheon.

APT's Unique Appeal

Lin distinguishes APT events from those in the U.S., pointing out, "APT tournaments generally start and end earlier, and the buy-ins are more affordable." This contrasts with the late-night schedule of high-stakes U.S. tournaments. He also highlights the distinctively vibrant tables and aggressive playstyle of Asian players.

Lin's Family Ties

Lin reveals that spending more time in Asia allows him to be closer to his family, particularly his mother in China. "Apart from the summer WSOP series in Las Vegas, I spend most of my time in Asia," he explains. This proximity strengthens his preference for participating regularly in APT events.

Encouraging Global Participation

Lin encourages American players to join the APT for its trophies, unique atmosphere, and cultural experience. "The APT trophies, the incredible local cuisine, and the breathtaking scenery make it worth the journey," he asserts. Lin expresses the desire for more APT high-stakes events, which would attract American and European players, despite the travel costs involved.

Looking Ahead

While Lin hasn't set plans for the $5,000,000 guaranteed APT Championship in Taipei, his previous wins at APT events grant him entries to the Main Event. "I tend to be spontaneous, so I haven't decided, but it feels like I have to go," he reflects. Lin also recently secured a sixth-place finish in a $2K High Roller in Incheon, adding another $17K to his tour earnings.
