Maryland Lottery Winner Takes Home $2M with Scratch-Off Ticket
A DC resident in Maryland wins $2M with Diamonds & Gold. Plans to travel to Europe and retire soon.

A lucky player in the Maryland Lottery has won a life-changing prize of $2 million. The winner, who plans a trip to Europe and is considering retirement, purchased her ticket at a local supermarket.
Million-Dollar Winnings with Diamonds & Gold
A resident of Washington D.C., nicknamed Book Worm, managed to transform a routine visit to the supermarket into an unforgettable moment. The winning ticket, which awarded her $2 million, was a Diamonds & Gold scratch-off ticket. This was the first of two major $2 million prizes that the game offers. The lucky ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven store located at 14,001 Baltimore Avenue in Laurel, Maryland. For selling the winning ticket, the store will receive a bonus of $2,000. The winner claimed her prize on July 20, keeping her identity anonymous.
Book Worm, although she preferred not to reveal her name, agreed to be interviewed by the lottery to share more details about her big moment and future plans.
The Winning Purchase and Claim Process
According to Book Worm, she and her sister often attend meetings of a local book club where, in addition to reading, members often play the lottery. She regularly buys Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets, visiting the store where she purchased the winning ticket weekly. Her big win occurred on June 30, when she decided to buy several scratch-off tickets and scratch them immediately.
Although the first ones were not winners, with the Diamonds & Gold ticket, she hit a seven-figure prize. Initially, she didn’t know how much she had won until the clerk confirmed the sum of $2 million. Overcome with emotion, she needed help to get home, and her first call was to her sister, with whom she has a close relationship.
Future Plans for Book Worm
The winner decided to wait nearly a month before claiming her prize, taking the time to plan her budget. Now, she has plans to pay off debts, retire from her job at a local supermarket, and enjoy a much-deserved break traveling to Europe.
