Resorts World NYC Launches $5.5B Expansion With New Slots
Resorts World New York City expands with 1,400 new slot machines as it marks the groundbreaking for Phase Two of its extensive redevelopment.

Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) progresses its $5.5 billion expansion by unveiling an expanded gaming floor with 1,400 additional slot machines. This development comes as RWNYC, now New York City's first full commercial casino, continues to see growing table game revenues post-launch in April. Genting Americas East President Robert DeSalvio highlighted the slot machines' popularity, noting $230 million in gross gaming revenue during the initial commercial operations.
Phase Two Launching with Groundbreaking Event
Today marks a ceremonial groundbreaking for Phase Two of the expansion. This phase will feature a new 400-room hotel tower and a 7,000-seat entertainment venue. Alongside ongoing upgrades, the full redevelopment will result in a 350,000-square-foot casino complete with 6,000 slot machines, 800 table games, and 2,000 hotel rooms. A key aspect is the incorporation of more than 10 acres of public green space. When finished, the venue aims to be the largest casino in the U.S.
Significant Contributions and Commitments
Since it first opened in 2011, RWNYC has contributed over $5 billion to New York’s public education system. Additionally, it has pledged $2.5 billion to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and $2 billion in community benefits. The commitment to broad economic and social contributions continues to be a cornerstone of its business.
Steady Growth in Table Game Revenue
The introduction of live table games, a defining moment in bringing full-scale casino gaming to New York City, was launched on April 28. Initially, performance reviews by Maybank analysts suggested modest results, but weekly table game gross gaming revenue (GGR) has increased significantly, from approximately $4.9 million to over $10.4 million by mid-July. Meanwhile, weekly slot revenues have been stable, contributing to a total rise in weekly gaming revenue from $27.2 million to roughly $30.8 million.
Other Competitive Developments
RWNYC was among three projects awarded downstate casino licenses in December 2025. The other projects include Bally’s Bronx and the Metropolitan Park, supported by Steve Cohen and located near Citi Field. Unlike these projects, RWNYC’s status as a racino allowed for a smooth transition into a full commercial casino. Bally’s Bronx purchased its site for $157 million, with groundwork already underway for a 2030 opening. Metropolitan Park, while facing initial construction delays, assures a similar 2030 launch timeline.
This development landscape signifies a growing competitive field in New York City’s casino industry, offering new business opportunities and challenges.
