The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has confirmed that European Safer Gambling Week 2026 will take place from November 16 to 22. This annual event aims to promote player protection and encourage safe gambling practices throughout Europe.
Objectives of Safer Gambling Week
The initiative, coordinated by EGBA, is designed to raise awareness about safer gambling practices. Bringing together various stakeholders in the gambling sector across Europe, this event focuses on sharing tools, resources, and best practices to ensure safe and sustainable gambling.
Outcomes from Last Year
In its most recent edition, in 2025, 221 partners participated across 24 countries. The social media campaign reached 4.1 million users, a 32% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, 23 events were organized with more than 2,500 attendees.
The event included safe gambling messages during televised football matches and in retailers across Europe. This was boosted through the launch of a dedicated website for the campaign.
Plans for 2026
The 2026 edition will follow this successful model with social media campaigns, a revamped event program, and an updated website. According to Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of EGBA:
"Five years ago, this was a small initiative. Today it reaches millions of people across Europe."
This expansion highlights the commitment of multiple organizations to safe gambling. EGBA invites more sector entities to join and participate actively.
