Two Trustees Reappointed to Theatres Trust Board

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) has announced the reappointment of Annie Hampson OBE and Katie Town to the Theatres Trust Board. Both individuals bring extensive experience in the arts and planning sectors to this vital organisation.

Profiles of the Reappointed Trustees

Annie Hampson OBE has a distinguished background in planning, having served as the Chief Planning Officer at the City of London. Her four decades in local government were recognized with an OBE in 2018 for her significant contributions to London's planning. Currently, she chairs the Diocese of London Advisory Committee, providing guidance across 460 churches, and advises on development and strategic committees. She is also a judge for the International Property Awards.

Katie Town, the Chief Executive of Theatre Royal Wakefield, has led creative transformation projects since her appointment in 2015. She previously served as General Manager of the National Theatre's Learning Department. Originally a barrister, Town transitioned into arts management with roles at the Royal Opera House and Candoco Dance Company. She co-founded the Local Theatre Touring Alliance and chairs Arts Catalyst, focusing on socially engaged arts practices.

Governance and Appointment Regulations

Trustees of the Theatres Trust are not remunerated for their roles. These reappointments follow the Governance Code on Public Appointments, regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. All significant political activities by appointees within the last five years must be declared, but both Hampson and Town have reported no such activities.
