SBC Summit Unveils Player Experience Academy for iGaming Improvement

The SBC Summit will host the Player Experience Academy this September to examine player engagement strategies and their boundaries. Scheduled for September 29, 13:30-17:00, at Sala Tejo, MEO Arena, this Academy targets professionals in player engagement, product development, and growth.

Focus on Engagement and Player Protection

The Academy forms part of SBC's Education+ programme and will scrutinize how operators can enhance engagement, retention, and player value while ensuring player safety. Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, emphasizes learning from other sectors like video games and retail. He stated, "Some of the most effective engagement mechanics in iGaming came from outside the industry... This Academy will explore how operators can adapt those ideas while recognizing the industry's regulatory responsibilities."

Innovative Sessions and Expert Panels

The session begins with "2026 Update: As It Is Now and What’s Next?" assessing the current state of player experience and its future. The panel "Driving Innovation in Responsible Player Experience" will feature Justin Muscat Galán from Betsson Group, Chris McGowan of Scatters Group, Christoffer Gronland of Mindboogle, and David Nardaia of Lambda Gaming. They will discuss balancing behavioural design, retention, and compliance.

Learning From Other Industries

An interactive presentation by Arjan Korstjens will explore what the gambling sector can learn from other industries about responsible player experience. The talk, "What iGaming Can Learn from Responsible Player Experience," will draw on experiences from video gaming, retail, and hospitality, considering how rewards and personalisation foster engagement.

Case Studies and Workshops

The Academy includes a case study, "Responsible Player Experience: Managing Risk for Commercial Sustainability," led by Dr Colin Lawrence. He will discuss adapting elements like battle passes from gaming to gambling. The conclusion is an interactive workshop, "Know Your Player," led by Helen Walton. It focuses on tailoring player experiences for different customer segments, from casual users to VIPs.

The Academy promises insights into enhancing player engagement without compromising ethical responsibility. Access is exclusive through the Education+ Upgrade, priced at €249. Tickets can be added to any SBC Summit or Affiliate Leaders Summit pass.

Stay tuned for further speaker announcements and updates.
