Betsson Sees LatAm Emerge as Largest Market in Q2

Betsson announced Latin America as its largest market in Q2 2026, contributing 36% of the operator’s €310.2 million revenue. The region's growth hit 32% year-on-year, reaching €112 million. CEO Pontus Lindwall highlighted all-time-high revenues in Argentina, Peru, and Colombia, attributing success to strong sports and casino activity. Lindwall explained, “We didn’t say from day one that this will be our biggest region, but we tend to invest where we see good profitability, and LatAm is one such market.”

Strong Performance in Latin America

Latin America's impact was significant, with revenue hitting €64.2 million, or 21% of the total group revenue. While LatAm thrived, Nordic markets saw a 17% revenue decline due to decreased marketing spend in Sweden and Denmark. Lindwall noted, “The markets are competitive and acquiring customers is costly. We find better investment opportunities outside of the Nordics.”

M&A Strategy and Credit Expansion

During the Q2 earnings call, Betsson revealed a new €75 million credit line to fund working capital and future M&A. “Our strategy is to grow both organically and via acquisitions,” stated Lindwall. Though he didn't specify targeted markets, he mentioned potential expansions in countries where Betsson lacks presence. Historically, Betsson has made strategic acquisitions to complement existing operations and enter new markets.

Betsson's Q2 Financials

Despite positive figures, the quarter's profitability was impacted by a drop in B2B revenue, primarily due to reduced activity from a major client. However, B2C businesses saw a 31.9% increase in active customers, totaling 1,825,487. Customer deposits fell 7% compared to Q2 2025, totaling €1.38 billion. Gross profit stood at €177.5 million, an 8% decrease year-on-year, while regulated revenues grew by 17%, comprising 75.5% of group revenue.

World Cup Enhancements and Tech Investments

Betsson made several technical advancements to accommodate the increased traffic during the World Cup, extending site capacities to manage five times the usual traffic. Lindwall stated satisfaction with the sportsbook’s technical performance: “We improved UX, making betting easier for customers.” The company has also begun exploring AI tools to optimize operations. “We use AI broadly, and there’s much more to come,” Lindwall told analysts.

Future Prospects

Looking ahead, Betsson maintains a focus on Latin America for growth opportunities and plans continued investment in technology to enhance operational efficiencies and user engagement. The operator's strategy aligns with its commitment to expanding its presence in profitable and emerging markets.
