Community Participation Survey 2025/26 in England
The study analyzes how individuals over 16 years in England engage in culture, media, and sports, replacing previous surveys.

The Community Participation Survey from the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has revealed new data regarding the engagement of individuals in England with their community and live sports. Designed for residents aged 16 and over, the survey replaced the Participation Survey and the Community Life Survey in October 2025. This report covers the period from October 2025 to March 2026.
Changes in Methodology
The Community Participation Survey is conducted online and gathers respondents' views on issues affecting their local area. This national survey provides data at the regional and local authority levels in England. While it focuses on residents of England, other surveys like the Scottish Household Survey and the National Survey for Wales have complementary information.
Included Data
Participation data is collected quarterly, with the next data publication scheduled for September 2026. Some participation data from April to September 2025 was included in this release, offering a continuous view of community behavior.
Early Access and Best Practices
A document with prior access lists ministers and officials who received early access to the data, limited to a minimal number of people and for no more than 24 hours for reporting purposes. Early access complies with recommended practices, and details are available in the attached materials.
Standards and Contact
This official statistic is regulated by the Office for Statistical Regulation (OSR), ensuring compliance with high standards of trust and quality. For comments on adherence to these standards, contact the OSR or directly reach the statistical team by emailing [email protected]. The lead analyst responsible for this report is Dea Begaj.
Updates and Corrections
A significant update was made on August 11, 2026. Invitation and reminder letters for 26/27, which had been erroneously attached in the technical report, were replaced with the correct ones for the 2025/26 year, thereby ensuring the accuracy of the disclosed material.
