Official Statistics: Community and Engagement Survey 2025/26

The Community and Engagement Survey (CES) is a continuous study that has been implemented in England starting from October 2025. It replaced the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Participation and Community Life Surveys and is designed to assess how individuals aged 16 and over engage with their community and in cultural, sporting, and media activities. This analysis aims to reflect opinions on various issues affecting their local area.

Coverage Period Data

The period covered by this survey is from April 2025 to March 2026, although most of the data was collected between October 2025 and March 2026 through the CES. Some of the data comes from the Participation Survey conducted from April to September 2025. The geographical information ranges from national to local authority level within England.

Access to Results and Next Steps

The publication of findings began on July 31, 2026. A subsequent publication with quarterly data from April to June 2026 is expected in September of the same year. The survey does not have a harmonized equivalent within the decentralized administrations of the United Kingdom. However, similar data can be found in the Scottish Household Survey, National Survey for Wales, and the Northern Ireland Continuous Household Survey.

Early Access Control

An early access document includes a list of ministers and officials who received the CES data prior to the official publication. This access was limited to a maximum of 24 hours for preparation and compliance with best practices.
