Trump Media Cancels Crypto.com Prediction Market Plans
Trump Media ends its collaboration with Crypto.com, shelving plans for prediction markets on Truth Social and exploring other opportunities.

Trump Media has decided to halt its partnership with Crypto.com, abandoning plans to integrate prediction markets into the Truth Social platform. Additionally, Trump Media canceled a related agreement for the purchase of a significant amount of Cronos (CRO) tokens. Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com, explained the decision, highlighting unfavorable market conditions.
“After analyzing these proposed ETFs and DAT from every angle, we’ve reached the same conclusion: moving forward under current market conditions doesn’t make sense,” stated Marszalek. Crypto.com will now explore alternative ETF opportunities, aiming to reallocate resources for revenue growth and ecosystem enhancement.
When Trump Media initially announced plans to purchase CRO tokens last year, the price surged to $0.33 but has since plummeted to $0.047, marking a precipitous drop of over 85%.
Abandoning Truth Predict Initiatives
Trump Media has also scrapped the launch of Truth Predict, a standalone platform planned as part of the Crypto.com collaboration. Initially announced by former CEO Devin Nunes, Truth Predict aimed to establish the company as the first publicly traded social media platform offering prediction markets. Nunes departed in April, succeeded by Kevin McGurn as interim CEO.
Under new leadership, Trump Media scaled back and ultimately shelved plans for integrating Crypto.com markets directly into Truth Social.
Launch of the Truth API
In place of these prediction platforms, Trump Media introduced the Truth API, designed to provide traders with early access to posts on Truth Social. "Markets already move on Truth Social posts," noted CEO McGurn, specifically referencing the significant market impact of posts by the President, who has the most followers on the platform. The API aims to offer advance notice of major policy decisions often announced on Truth Social, positioning traders to benefit before markets react.
The API was launched earlier this month, with McGurn emphasizing its design benefits for organizations facing costs from delayed information. However, the move comes amid controversy, including claims of insider trading by White House insiders.
Future Partnership Potential
While ending the Crypto.com partnership, Trump Media is exploring new alliances with platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. Both have established media ties and connections with the Trump family. Donald Trump Jr., a strategic advisor to both platforms, joined Kalshi and Polymarket after the last election, investing through 1789 Capital.
He also holds significant influence at Trump Media, serving on its board and managing a 41% company stake through the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust. These developments could reshape Trump Media’s strategic direction in the prediction market space.
