Online Gambling
Allowed
- Online sports betting (licensed, open to EEA-based operators via a Hungarian representative)
- Online casino games (only for concession holders of a land-based casino)
- Licensed online draw games and lotteries
Prohibited
- Unlicensed remote gambling of any kind
- Online casino games offered without an underlying land-based casino concession
Taxation
Online sports betting GGR15%
Online casino GGR30% up to HUF 10bn; HUF 3bn + 10% above HUF 10bn
Lottery/draw games24% of monthly prize pool
License validity: Typically issued for several years, subject to SZTFH renewal and compliance review
Land-Based Gambling
Allowed
- Land-based casinos (concession-based, currently limited to 12 licences)
- Land-based sports betting (single licensed operator, Szerencsejáték Zrt.)
- Lotteries and bingo
- Slot machines in licensed venues
Prohibited
- Casino operation without a state concession
- Unlicensed sports betting or slot machine operation
